| "The Twin Trexx" |
Ok, my friend Brittany sent me a link for twin baby carriers http://www.twin-pregnancy-and-beyond.com/twin-baby-carriers.html and a couple look decent, but the two above are ridiculous but they are the ones that you can actually use as the twins get older. The 3 below look more practical BUT they are only for smaller babies. The 2nd pic says its only for babies up to 10lbs.

The one that I like the most is the 3rd pic which is a Moby Wrap. It is basically a really long piece of fabric that you wrap around yourself and it hold the baby in...and go figure, I already have one of these!! So, when I have an extra set of hands (because I won't attempt to try and wrap and put the babies in by myself I will post a picture of my success or failure and let you know if my shoulders aren't killing me after 5 minutes. BTW, the sling that I use right now with just one baby in it is a "seven sling". And I love it. You can get it at www.sevenslings.com
I just picked this up today at Walmart while I was looking for baby toys to put on carseat handles. This is a portable baby soother and it is pretty much just a little pillow that vibrates but I have a bouncer that I got before I had Noah and it doesn't vibrate anymore. I tried new batteries and everything and it is pretty much dead but it is a really comfy little bouncer. So I thought I would give this little doo-dad a try and the babies LOVE it! It really does
"soothe". Plus, it is portable so you can put it in their swing or their car seat (even though it says not to put it in their car seat), and a picture on the front of the box shows a mom holding her baby with the soother on baby's back.
Definitely put one of these on your registry! It is one of those things that you never knew you needed.
Kadence and Liam had their "newborn" photos taken today by "Frame me... by Mamee". I only had the photographer take pictures of them together because I can take pretty decent pictures of them individually myself. There was a lot of work going into this photo shoot and we didn't get a million different poses for 2 hours of shooting. I'm guessing that a photo shoot with one baby would have a lot more diversity. With twins, one baby is either moving around, and the other one might be cooperating, but is getting out of position by the other one being so squirmish. In my case either Liam was trying to eat Kadence's face or Kadence was trying to propel herself off the bean bag. Fortunately, there was no screaming or crying and I think they got a lot of cute shots. I can't wait to see them all, I really like the photographers style.
I recently found this out about onesies. Did you know that the reason why they have that layered part at the neck is so that you can pull it down off the baby's body instead of pulling it up over their head in a case of a poopy explosion that gets all over their clothes?? I did not know when I had my first baby. It could have been very useful knowledge in one particular event.
It is the most memorable trip to Barnes & Noble that I ever took. Noah was a little over a month old and my friend came to Arizona because both of our husbands were deployed to Iraq at the time. We decided to go shopping, of course, and brought the little guy. We ended up at Barnes & Noble which ended up being our last stop because Noah had what we like to call an "assplosion". His onesie was full of it, it car seat was full of it...it was awful. There was no way possible that the stuff was not going to get on my hands, I just had to go for it to clean him up as well as the car seat. (BTW I'm pretty sure I pulled the onesie up over his head b/c I didn't know about the purpose of the layered neck). It was pretty much the exact moment I understood that you need to pack your diaper bag for the unexpected b/c I didn't bring him extra clothes. So we drove home with Noah in just his diaper and cleaned out car seat (as much as could get clean). Don't worry he got a bath right away!
The point of this story, is that onesie's are amazing in ways that you didn't even know. They aren't just cool because they have snappies at the crotch to easily access a diaper change.
This is what happened when we had our first appointment.
We had four weeks in between finding out that we were expecting via a handy home pregnancy test, but your always worried about that first appointment. The first ultrasound. My biggest fear at both of those types of appointments that I had were that they weren't going to find anything, that I would be empty. Besides having some nausea, I was not feeling pregnant at all. This only amplified my nervousness.
We knew it was going to be a long appointment so we took Noah to the YMCA, there is no way he would be an angel for more than 5-10 minutes. When we got to the "Women's Care" office we sat down, looked at some brochures. Our scheduled appointment time came, then 5 minutes later we were still waiting. 10 minutes...15 minutes. Come on already!! Finally my name is called and we are taken into a nice sized room with an ultrasound machine and a TV to see whatever the nurse sees. My husband and I have done this before, we kind of know what to expect. So the the nurse starts the ultrasound and all we see on the screen is blurry gray lines, nothing exciting. Stephen is actually excited too, he's sitting up on the edge of his chair holding my hand waiting to verify that we have another bundle of joy coming our way. At this point, I think this is happiest Stephen has been about our news. I'm sure that for a man, they obviously don't feel pregnant, so this is their time to know that there really is something there. However, this moment , although memorable doesn't last long.

As the nurse is moving the ultrasound wand around to find the baby, I notice it. I definitely need confirmation but I notice that there are two dark circles with little oval things in each. Stephen, on the other hand has absolutely no idea. So when the nurse says, "It looks like there are two in there". I start laughing, because I had joked about having twins and I saw the two circles so she couldn't really surprise me. However, Stephen is in shock. He went from sitting on the edge of his seat and making jokes to slouching back into the chair in complete silence. It took a few minutes, I kept asking him if he was okay, I expected to look over and see him passed out on the floor but he was still breathing. He finally says, "So there could be two, or are there definitely two?" The nurse replies, "There's definitely two, two babies, two placentas, fraternal twins". And silence. The rest of the appointment consisted of me asking a million questions and Stephen reverting to a childlike state playing games on his cell phone and trying to forget that the world outside his handheld companion is real. After awhile, I let him go and get Noah. He needs to wrap his head around this before he feels better, and I am ECSTATIC, so he is not going to rain on my parade. I immediately have to tell someone so in between seeing the nurse and the doctor, I take out my phone and take a picture of the ultrasound and send it to a bunch of people, but I don't tell them its twins. The picture is pretty obvious, although, like me, confirmation is still needed. The reactions I got ranged from skeptical to overjoy but I'm a planner and I had everything figured out withing a week after I found out. Now that I'm 15 weeks I'm not so worried about losing them anymore, now I need to start worrying about the reality of what it will be like to carry, deliver and take care of two babies instead of one.
